    Mr. Raghu Roy, the Chief Executive of the agency is a senior market and social research professional in India. Prior to setting up MaRS, Raghu had been the CEO of Operations Research Group (ORG, currently taken over by A C Nielsen). During his 30 year career, he has managed and revamped some of the largest research projects in India including retail audits of consumer products, trade audit of pharmaceutical products, prescription audits. He also conceptualized and launched India Readership Survey (IRS). Launching of IRS at the time when NRS was going strong had been a difficult and risky decision for the team, but the methodology and concept formulated has passed the test of time and has remained robust as ever, till today. Raghu has initiated many other pioneering projects and has worked for private sector as well as public social sector clients with almost equal intensity.

    Mr. Debasis Roy Mahapatra is our business representative in Hong Kong. He holds a Kellogg HKUST MBA degree, which has been rated as the top Executive MBA program worldwide in 2010 by the Financial Times survey. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and is Mathematics graduate, specializing in Computer Science, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. For almost all his life he worked for a Fortune 500 US multinational IT vendor. During his long career in that company, he has received numerous awards – mostly for management excellence. At the time of his retirement in 2007, he was the Director of Services for their China Practice. Mr. Roy Mahapatra brings with him extensive experience of US management practices applied in an Asian business context, IT consulting and conducting business in China. At present Mr. Roy Mahapatra also works as consultant for his previous employer and for another major global IT service provider in the airline industry.

His expertise is in customized research, brand equity and satisfaction measurement. He brings to the table wide array of domain insight with experience of working in FMCG, BFSI, construction and developmental sector. He worked both in private and public sector organizations, namely ICICI Lombard, Hindustan Coca-Cola, IMRB, S P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), KVIC and K Raheja developers. Asok is a management graduate from Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) and holds a degree in Civil engineering. His areas of interest are consumer immersion, behavioural economics, grassroots innovations and design thinking.

    Ms. Shivani Kapoor, Research Director, is an economist with an experience of over 15 years across social research, behavior change communication, PPP, market based partnership, policy and advocacy. Through her career, she has worked closely with bilateral and multilateral donors, private sector clients, medical and industry associations, state and national Governments, research and advertising agencies. In her last position, she served as Deputy Chief of Party of a USAID/ India HIV/AIDS Project, leading the private sector engagement. Prior to that she served as Director for Policy & Advocacy for USAID’s Market-based Partnerships for Health project on family planning. She has worked in Jharkhand for four years managing large scale social audits and published the Tribal health seeking behavior study. In research, she has experience conducting baseline and end line studies, need assessment, pre-test, rapid assessment, capacity building, mapping studies, etc. and has field experience across most regions in India.

    Dr. Shubhashis Gangopadhyay,Indian economist

    Dr. Shubhashis Gangopadhyay is an eminent Indian economist. Shubhashis did his Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University, USA and was a professor in Indian Statistical Institute. He has published widely in journals on development economics, international trade, industrial organization, regulatory economics and finance. He has also co-authored and co-edited a number of books in economics and finance. He is the Chief Editor of the Journal of Emerging Market Finance and has been the founder-President of two professional societies, the Society for Economic Research and Financial Analysis (SERFA) and the Society for the Promotion of Game Theory and its Applications (SPGTA). He has been on many government committees and consulted with various ministries and private business. He is on the board of CFAB (Indian School of Business), and on the Advisory Boards of universities abroad, as well as for the World Bank’s chief economist’s cell. He is the managing trustee of India Development Foundation, which he has set up with its major objective to develop awareness about how markets work, why they are desirable and how we can develop them.     Sonalini Mirchandani, a leading professional in development communication and communication research in India, started her career as a civil servant in the Indian Foreign Service. Moving on to work in the private sector, she was Vice President Operations Research Group (presently AC Nielsen ORG-MARG) before joining Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in 1995 as Resident Advisor on the Innovations in Family Planning Services Project (IFPS) in Uttar Pradesh. As Country Director JHU (2004-07), Sonalini led the design and implementation of a statewide HIV/AIDS communication program funded by USAID in Maharashtra, and provided technical assistance to the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO). She has handled an array of communication consultancy assignments in research, strategy design and training for the private sector as also for leading bilateral and multilateral organizations including the World Bank, Danida, UNICEF, DFID, among others. Sonalini is currently the founder chief executive of The Communication Hub, a leading development and social communication agency in India
